Dr. Barbara Rossing
Rev. Dr. Barbara R. Rossing is professor of New Testament at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, where she also directs the Environmental Ministry Emphasis and teaches in the Zygon Center for Religion and Science. Her publications include The Rapture Exposed: The Message of Hope in the Book of Revelation; “Revelation” in Fortress Commentary on the Testament; and articles and book chapters on ecology, food justice, climate, preaching, and scriptural imagination. She chairs the Society of Biblical Literature’s Ecological Hermeneutics section. Her media appearances have included “CBS Sixty Minutes” as well as The History Channel, National Geographic, and Living the Questions.
Rossing received a B.A. in Geology from Carleton College, the MDiv from Yale Divinity School and ThD from Harvard University. Ordained in 1982, she also served as pastor at Holden Village Retreat Center, Chelan, Wash., and chaplain at Harvard University Divinity School.
